Success Story: Le Prix du Gros - Simplifying Key Management Across a Large Auto Complex

Before implementing ecos key management systems, Le Prix du Gros faced the daily chaos of manual key handling across several dealerships. Each site relied on small wall cabinets filled with hooks, handwritten labels, and manual check-outs. 

Keys were often misplaced — forgotten in an employee’s pocket, left in an office, or taken to another building. Tracking them back could take hours. The lack of control meant security risks as well: customers and unauthorized staff could access key areas, and managers had no reliable way to see who had taken which keys and when. 

As the dealership expanded, managing hundreds of vehicle keys with this outdated system became unsustainable. They needed a secure, centralized, and easy-to-use solution that could be accessed by multiple departments — from sales to service and vehicle preparation — without creating bottlenecks or administrative headaches. 

In 2018, Le Prix du Gros deployed an ecos electronic key cabinet to modernize and centralize its key control. 

The system was configured to handle over 600 vehicles, with secure biometric access (fingerprint recognition) ensuring only authorized employees could retrieve keys. 
Key tags (ecos ID-Plugs) were paired with each vehicle’s unique identification, allowing rapid search and retrieval using the last six digits of the VIN. 

The system is now used daily by: 

• Sales teams and directors for test drives and customer appointments,
• Mechanics and technicians for maintenance and repairs,
• Vehicle preparation and detailing teams before delivery, and
• Yard staff and drivers who move vehicles between lots.

Only a few designated administrators manage the pairing of new keys to ID-Plugs from a computer — while more than 200 employees interact directly with the cabinet interface. Despite the scale, adoption was effortless:
