The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) employs over 1,600 people and manages complex global intellectual property frameworks from its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Securing this facility requires an elite security force equipped for immediate action. WIPO needed a highly reliable, frictionless solution to secure the service pistols and ammunition protecting their building. They worked with ecos systems to design a customized, automated, storage and distribution system for their security equipment and firearms.

The challenge:
Establishing high-reliability storage for critical security assets

WIPO required a centralized method for storing its security forces' pistols and ammunition that eliminated manual handoffs and paperwork. Their solution needed to secure highly sensitive assets while ensuring immediate access for authorized officers. Specifically, WIPO wanted an automated solution that provided complete accountability for every firearm checked out during shift changes.

Our solution:
Automated secure lockers and specialized drawers

To meet these security requirements, ecos systems deployed a self-managed network of automated equipment storage lockers. The system secures all sidearms and ammunition precisely in accordance with WIPO’s protocols.

The ecos deployment included:

  • 23 ecos M lockers
  • 20 ecos 1m/2 drawers

Deploying these allowed armory supervisors to store firearms and ammunition in dedicated, electronically monitored compartments. Officers authenticate themselves at the terminal, granting them access only to their assigned firearms and equipment.

Result:
Verified equipment access and continuous operational readiness

The ecos systems installation gave the World Intellectual Property Organization precise control over its armoury. The system ensures that no single individual can access unauthorized firearms or ammunition.

By using automated smart locker technology, WIPO maintains the highest level of security while keeping the equipment transaction process straightforward for daily operations. Security forces no longer spend unnecessary time on manual handoffs. Supervisors gained clear traceability for their critical assets.
